Established in 2020, SUPERCODEX is a cross-disciplinary digital art practice operating within the physical and digital intersections. Often employing immersive, large-scale installations, the group works across various media, including performances using light, video and sound. Led by founders Syed Muhammad and Iwaz, SUPERCODEX has a studio in Kuala Lumpur but operates globally along with a network of creatives complimenting their vision.
Experimental by nature, SUPERCODEX's practice is fuelled by research and discovery. Their works highlight the human essence behind technology by utilising real-time data feed in their performances, celebrating imperfections and glitches within the human-technology interface with a broader question of how we connect - to different kinds of life, to varying views of the world, and one another.
SUPERCODEX has exhibited widely at various cultural events and institutions, most notable being Urbanscapes, Istana Budaya & KLPAC. The group is a frequent feature of Malaysia's arts and culture scene by participating in numerous performances, theatres, galleries and residencies through their many collaborations with creatives in Malaysia and abroad.
